Several other children attended as well, marking this as Laguna’s first real attempt at public education. The next school that housed 20 children was built […]

Next up today — the 10th Anniversary edition of the Fête de la musique / Music Festival, sponsored by Laguna Beach Sister Cities Association. While the Fete itself began in 1976 by American musician Joel Cohen who was then employed by the national French radio station, Laguna Beach's edition has only been for the last 10 years. Still, not a bad run! Cohen proposed an all-night music celebration at the moment of the summer solstice (the longest day of summer). The idea was recognized by the French Minister of Culture, and the rest they say is history. It is heartwarming to know that you do not have to be in France on this day of music… you may stroll the village streets of Laguna today to hear the voices of song and music that echoes all over the world. Opening ceremonies are at Noon on the Cobblestones at Main Beach. That's also where where you can grab the itinerary of performances.
TIP: Wear comfortable shoes and bring a sun hat and water to enjoy the entire Fete without Fete-tigue!
