Brunch & Beats at Oak Laguna Beach

Sunday's "Brunch and Beats" at Oak Laguna Beach prolongs the weekend party vibe. Immediately upon entering the bright and modern eatery, the fresh ocean air and view of the Pacific envelop you. Brunch starts at 10 am, and from 12 to 3 pm DJ Michael Christofi holds court on the patio mixing beats to enhance the experience. The scene invokes a sense of vacay or, for locals, stay cay.

The exceptional Brunch Menu, crafted by Executive Chef Nick Shipp, satisfies every desire for Sunday gastronomy. If you crave your weekend Benedict, go Classic with Canadian Bacon or try the Blackened Salmon Benedict. A generous portion of pan-seared blackened salmon adorns each half of the English muffin with spinach, hollandaise, poached egg, and a circular dome of Hash Browns to work into every bite. After a big Saturday night, the tender Short Rib Chilaquiles hits the spot with its distinct Tomatillo Salsa and Lime Crema, plated with Black Beans, Queso Fresco, and Fresh Avocado on top.

General Manager/Chief Mixologist Cat Robbins has a solid command of the busy bar throughout the day. She crafts exquisite Oak Specialty Cocktails and pours brunch faves like the Blood Orange Mimosa, Peach Bellini, and LOAKL'S Bloody Mary. Go Bottomless with your Mimosa; two entrees plus a bottle and fresh juice for $75 and four entrees plus a bottle and fresh juice for $140.

In addition to Brunch dishes, they offer Small Plates, Salads, Soups, and "Oh Shucks" Oysters on the half shell, Oak Kumai Oysters, and Oysters Rockefeller, plus a selection of unique tacos a la carte. Indulge in the Espresso Ice Cream N' Doughnuts or Brioche Bread Pudding for something sweet.

Christian Sandoval, the Front of House Manager and Chief of Guest Services, greets and seats the guests and makes sure everybody is happy. He did a bang-up job informing me of a few other things to make a note of:

Tuesday is Half-Price Wine Night.

Wednesdays, Kids Eat Free (with each entree), and the kid menu is pretty awesome.

On Tito's Thirsty Thursdays, all Tito's Vodka cocktails are $8.

And last but not least, Happy Hour is back! 3 pm-6 pm Tues. to Fri., Mon. 3 pm-close.

Oak is at 1100 S. Coast Hwy. at Oak St. For reservations: oak-lagunabeach.com
