The Outdoor Marketplace is Out-a-Sight!

The approved, pandemic safe version of the Sawdust Festival opened their Outdoor Marketplace this past weekend. It seemed like a soft opening, as in the crowds were not waiting outside with the 250 person capacity, but news coverage will surely persuade people to visit during the next five weekends. If all goes well, they will continue the event throughout the holidays into December. Other changes to this year's Sawdust Festival include:

  • They titled the event "Groove in the Grove," an Outdoor Marketplace.
  • Noticeably fewer booths exist for safe distancing, and artists will alternate throughout the six-weekend trial.
  • No art classes at Art Spot or Art Studio or Ceramics, but beautiful art is on display in the spaces instead.
  • No live music on the Tavern Stage to safely facilitate the flow of food and beer patrons.
  • The Main Deck seating is closed off.
  • Security Staff are monitoring the wearing of masks over the nose.
  • No City trolleys to get you there and back.
  • No line for the restroom!

Though it's temporary, I enjoyed the more open concept with less of a crowd. It allowed me to focus on every artist and engage with them. I'll be back Saturday and Sunday for the different artists and musicians putting their stamp on Weekend Number Two!  935 Laguna Canyon Rd., Sat. & Sun 10am-5pm
